چکیده

Verbs have the status of soul for the language; they are used and give movement to the language. Pashto is a rich language in terms of verbs. In this section, it has a rich capital in terms of form and meaning. In this language, there are two types of actions, according to their usage; it is a real action which has a functional meaning and the action is expressed from it. Others are those that do not show the action, but show the condition and existence, and come as an auxiliary to the main verb and form a compound verb. In this research, the roots and functions of auxiliary verbs and compound verbs have been considered and explored. In this research, we used descriptive and analytical method. This topic is very important in the Pashto language because most verbs are formed in a compound form and Auxiliary verbs have a special place in this field. Almost all auxiliary verbs originate from three roots (I, W, S) and participate in presenting the meaning of different tenses and situations. The same roots are present in all auxiliary verbs, whether they are compound or indicative of presence.
