Comparison of Parental Acceptance between Urban and Rural Adolescents (Case Study: Sheberghan City and its Surrounding Villages)

Abstract
Adolescence is one of the most critical stages of life, exposing adolescents to numerous challenges. The study aimed to compare parental acceptance between rural and urban adolescents. This research is applied in nature and was conducted using a causal-comparative method. The sample consisted of 400 adolescents (secondary school students), including 200 urban adolescents and 200 rural adolescents from Sheberghan city and its surrounding villages, selected through snowball sampling. The research instrument was the Child Acceptance (CA) questionnaire, which was completed by willing participants. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and analysis of variance (ANOVA) via SPSS software. The results showed a significant difference in parental acceptance between urban and rural adolescents at the 99% confidence level (P < 0.01). Thus, rural adolescents reported higher levels of parental acceptance compared to their urban counterparts. Accordingly, serious attention needs to be paid to adolescent issues and problems so that they can grow into healthy individuals in the future.
