الملخص

The weakness of leadership in Afghanistan’s private universities is considered one of the fundamental challenges facing the country’s higher education system. This weakness has led to a decline in educational quality, limited scientific research activities, inadequate student competencies, and an overall inability to respond effectively to societal needs. Leadership plays a vital role in the sustainable development and progress of universities, as it is responsible for defining strategic visions, managing human resources, ensuring quality assurance, and implementing international standards. The significance of this study lies in identifying the weaknesses in leadership within private universities and proposing practical solutions to address them. The main objective of this research is to examine the factors, impacts, and challenges arising from weak leadership in private universities and to provide effective recommendations for improvement. The study hypothesizes that weak leadership has a direct negative impact on academic quality, administrative management, and quality assurance systems. The primary research question is: what are the major challenges and consequences of weak leadership in Afghanistan’s private universities? This research adopts a mixed-methods (descriptive–analytical) approach, utilizing data collected through library research, face-to-face interviews, online surveys, and telephone interviews. The findings indicate that weak leadership in private universities has resulted in reduced educational quality, limited graduate competencies, decreased institutional credibility, and diminished public trust in these institutions.
