One of the important topics that is less discussed in the writings of our authors in Persian language is the issue of dowry and its size in the light of Sharia. Dowry is the money that a man pays to a woman in marriage. The purpose of this research is to investigate the amount of dowry from the perspective of Islamic Sharia and measure its compatibility with dowries that are common in Farah and Badghis communities. This research was done by library and field method. The findings of this research show that there is no definite dowry in Sharia that must be adhered to, but ease in marriage and low dowry are definitely recommended and well said. Islamic jurists say that it is recommended that the dowry should not be more than the amount mentioned in the Sunnah of the Prophet regarding the dowry of the wives and daughters of the Prophet (peace be upon him). The maximum dowry mentioned in this case was not more than five hundred dirhams or (95,835) (ninety-five thousand eight hundred and thirty-five) Afghanis. The current dowry in Badghis province is between 600 thousand and 1.5 million Afghanis and in Farah province from 300 thousand to 2 million Afghanis. With this account, there is a clear difference between the common dowries in Badghis and Farah provinces and the amount of dowry in Sharia law.
