The Pashayi language is spoken in different provinces of Afghanistan and has strong historical, linguistic, and regional connections with Pashto. This article focuses on eight specific sounds (/ṭ, /ǰ, /c, /ḍ, /ṛ, /ẓ, /ṣ, /ṇ) that are common in both Pashto and pashayi. The study looks at how these sounds are identified, where they are produced in the mouth (articulation points or makhārij), and other phonetic features. Examples are used to show how these sounds appear at the beginning, middle, and end of words. The article also explains the reasons why both languages have these shared sounds. Significance of the research this is an important study because no earlier research has focused on these shared sounds between Pashayi and Pashto. It highlights the similarities and helps readers and researchers better understand the deep historical and linguistic links between the two languages. The research includes information from various sources, including interviews with native Pashayi speakers, to provide a complete analysis.
